I was referred by the Pain Management Center at the Medical College of WI for chronic neck and back pain with deconditioning. We were going to try a therapy called "dry needling." I've had about four or five appointments and it's going well. I'm not magically cured, but "dry needling" has worked to relax muscles in my neck that feel like they have been contracted for years. The tired, achy, burning pain has improved. Because the muscles are more relaxed, I can perform the "homework" stretches; whereas, in the past, I'd just look at the therapist (who obviously did NOT suffer from chronic pain) and laugh knowing I'd NEVER do those exercises because they'd CAUSE more muscle spasms!
